The1963 Stratford by-election was aby-election held on 15 August 1963 for theBritish House of Commonsconstituency ofStratford-on-Avon inWarwickshire.
The by-election was caused by the resignation of the constituency'sConservative PartyMember of Parliament (MP)John Profumo on 6 June 1963 after theProfumo affair scandal.
The result was aConservative Party hold, withAngus Maude winning a massively-reduced majority of almost 3,470 votes.
The by-election was the first of many to be contested byDavid Sutch, later known as "Screaming Lord Sutch".
