The1961USA Indoor Track and Field Championships were organized by theAmateur Athletic Union (AAU) and served as thenational championships in indoortrack and field for theUnited States.
The men's edition was held atMadison Square Garden inNew York City, New York, and it took place February 25. The women's meet was held separately at theFrench Field House inColumbus, Ohio, taking place March 11.[1][2]
At the championships, Olympic championRalph Boston won the long jump ahead of the only other man to jump over 26 feet,Igor Ter-Ovanesyan. 16,243 spectators attended the men's edition.[3][4]
