The East team was led by thePhiladelphia Eagles' Buck Shaw whileRed Hickey of theSan Francisco 49ers coached the West squad.[2] TheBaltimore Colts swept the player of the game awards, with quarterbackJohnny Unitas, theNFL MVP for 1959, being voted the outstanding back and defensive linemanEugene Lipscomb named the outstanding lineman.[3]
