The 1958New York Yankees season was the 56th season for the team. The team finished with a record of 92–62, winning their 24thpennant, finishing 10 games ahead of theChicago White Sox. In theWorld Series, they defeated theMilwaukee Braves in 7 games. New York was managed byCasey Stengel. The Yankees played their home games atYankee Stadium. In 1958, the Yankees became New York City's only professional baseball team after theBrooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles and theNew York Giants left for San Francisco. The Yankees would hold this distinction until 1962, when theNew York Mets began play.
