A constitutional referendum was held inFrance on 28 September 1958.[1] Voters were asked whether they approved of the adoption of aconstitution for theFrench Fifth Republic written byCharles de Gaulle. It was overwhelmingly approved, with 82.6% in favour.[2] Voter turnout was 84.9% inmetropolitan France and 79.8% overall.[2]
