National Football League draft
The1950 NFL draft was held January 20–21, 1950, atthe Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philadelphia.[ 1] Baltimore Colts ,Cleveland Browns , andSan Francisco 49ers from theAll-America Football Conference , these three teams were combined with the other NFL clubs in a single ranking to determine the order of the draft.
This was the fourth year that thefirst overall pick was a bonus pick determined by lottery, with the previous three winners (Chicago Bears in 1947,Washington Redskins in 1948, andPhiladelphia Eagles in 1949) ineligible from the draw;[ 2] Detroit Lions , who selected endLeon Hart .

†Ray Mallouf was an NFL veteran, originally selected in the1941 NFL draft , who had already played four seasons for the Chicago Cardinals and one season for the New York Giants. The Giants released Mallouf just before the 1950 draft.[ 5]
