Rhode Island was won byDemocratic candidate,incumbentPresidentHarry S. Truman ofMissouri, over theRepublican candidate,GovernorThomas E. Dewey ofNew York. Truman ran withSenatorAlben W. Barkley ofKentucky as his running mate, while Dewey ran withGovernorEarl Warren ofCalifornia as his running mate.
Truman won Rhode Island by a margin of 16.15%.
