Official list of the best college football players of 1947
The1947 All-America college football team is composed ofcollege football players who were selected asAll-Americans by various organizations and writers that choseAll-America college football teams in 1947. The eight selectors recognized by theNCAA as "official" for the 1947 season are (1), theAmerican Football Coaches Association (AFCA), (2) theAssociated Press (AP), (3)Collier's Weekly Grantland Rice , (4) theFootball Writers Association of America (FW), (5) theInternational News Service (INS), (6) theNewspaper Enterprise Association (NEA), (7) theSporting News United Press (UP). Other selectors include theCentral Press Association (CP) and theWalter Camp Football Foundation (WC).
Notre Dame quarterback Johnny Lujack andMichigan halfback Bob Chappuis were the only two players unanimously named by all eight official selectors as first-team All-Americans. Lujack and Chappuis also finished first and second in the 1947Heisman Trophy voting.
