The1946 Georgia lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on November 5, 1946, in order to elect the firstlieutenant governor of Georgia.Democratic nomineeMelvin E. Thompson ran unopposed and subsequently won the election.[1]
The Democraticprimary election was held on July 17, 1946. CandidateMelvin E. Thompson received a majority of the votes (29.61%), and was thus elected as the nominee for the general election.[2]
