The1940 United States presidential election in Idaho took place on November 5, 1940, as part of the1940 United States presidential election. State voters chose four[2] representatives, or electors, to theElectoral College, who voted forpresident andvice president.
Idaho was won byincumbent PresidentFranklin D. Roosevelt (D–New York), running withSecretary of AgricultureHenry A. Wallace, with 54.36% of the popular vote, againstWendell Willkie (R–New York), running withMinority LeaderCharles L. McNary, with 45.31% of the popular vote.[3][4]
As of the2024 presidential election[update], this is the last occasion whenCassia County,Lemhi County andOwyhee County have voted for a Democratic presidential candidate.[5][6]
