The1938 Minnesota Attorney General election was held on 8 November 1938 in order to elect theattorney general of Minnesota.Republican nominee and formergovernor of MinnesotaJoseph A. A. Burnquist defeatedFarmer–Labor nominee andincumbent acting attorney generalWilliam S. Ervin andDemocratic nominee John D. Sullivan.[1]
On election day, 8 November 1938,Republican nomineeJoseph A. A. Burnquist won the election by a margin of 152,586 votes against his foremost opponentFarmer–Labor nomineeWilliam S. Ervin, thereby gaining Republican control over the office of attorney general. Burnquist was sworn in as the 21stattorney general of Minnesota on 2 January 1939.[2]
