The1936 United States presidential election in Washington took place on November 3, 1936, as part of the1936 United States presidential election. Voters chose eight[2] representatives, or electors, to theElectoral College, who voted forpresident andvice president.

Washington was won byincumbent PresidentFranklin D. Roosevelt (DNew York), running with Vice PresidentJohn Nance Garner, with 66.38% of the popular vote, againstGovernorAlf Landon (RKansas), running withFrank Knox, with 29.88% of the popular vote.[3][4]

Roosevelt's 66.38 percent result is the best ever achieved by a Democratic presidential candidate in Washington state. As of the2024 presidential election[update], this is the last election in whichAdams County voted for a Democratic presidential candidate.[5] This would also prove the last timeWhitman County voted for a Democratic presidential candidate untilBill Clinton in1992, as well as the last time a presidential candidate won every single county in the state. Roosevelt was the first Democrat to carry the state more than once, and the last untilBill Clinton in1992 and1996.
