The1929–30 season was the 55th season of competitivefootball inEngland.

Events

The Wednesday officially changed their name toSheffield Wednesday prior to the start of this season.[1]

Blackpool claimed their only championship to date on the final day of theDivision Two season, 3 May, with a goalless draw atNottingham Forest. Runners-upChelsea could have won the title themselves the same afternoon if they had won and Blackpool had lost, but the Londoners were defeated atBury by a single goal. Blackpool forward,Jimmy Hampson, finished the season as the top goal scorer in England, with 46 goals in all competitions.[2]
