The1928 United States presidential election in Maine took place on November 6, 1928, as part of the1928 United States presidential election which was held throughout all contemporary forty-eight states. Voters chose six representatives, or electors to theElectoral College, who voted forpresident andvice president.
Maine voted for theRepublican nominee, formerSecretary of CommerceHerbert Hoover ofCalifornia, over theDemocratic nominee,GovernorAlfred E. Smith ofNew York. Hoover's running mate wasSenate Majority LeaderCharles Curtis ofKansas, while Smith ran withSenatorJoseph Taylor Robinson ofArkansas.
Hoover won Maine by a margin of 37.67%, making Maine his third-strongest state afterKansas andMichigan.[1]
