Elections in New Mexico

The1928 New Mexico gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 1928, in order to elect theGovernor of New Mexico. Incumbent RepublicanRichard C. Dillon won a second term by a wide margin, becoming the first governor of New Mexico to be reelected. Dillon was the first Republican gubernatorial candidate to ever winChaves County andSan Juan County. Conversely, this was the last election until1950 in whichDoña Ana County backed a Republican and the last until1940 in whichBernalillo County did the same.
