The1925 Pittsburgh Pirates finished first in theNational League with a record of 95–58. They defeated theWashington Senators four games to three to win their secondWorld Series championship.
The Pirates had three futureHall of Famers in their starting lineup:Max Carey,Kiki Cuyler, andPie Traynor.
Pittsburgh defeated the Brooklyn Robins, 21–5, on June 20 and two days later won 24–6 against the St. Louis Cardinals, becoming the first team since 1901 to score 20 or more runs in consecutive games.[2][3] This feat was later matched by the1950 Boston Red Sox.[3]
