The Republicanprimary election was held on September 5, 1922.Incumbent lieutenant governorGeorge Comings received a majority of the votes (65.25%) againstincumbentSpeaker of the Wisconsin State AssemblyRiley S. Young, and was thus elected as the nominee for the general election.[2]
