The1915New York Giants season was the franchise's 33rd season. The team finished eighth in the eight-teamNational League with a record of 69–83, 21 games behind thePhiladelphia Phillies.

Opening day game

[edit]

Opening day was April 14, 1915, at thePolo Grounds against theBrooklyn Dodgers with 20,000 attendees. MayorJohn Purroy Mitchel threw theceremonial first pitch. TheNew York Giants Opening Day starting pitcher wasJeff Tesreau. The Giants won 16 to 3.[1]

Regular season

[edit]

After finishing first in1911,1912, and1913 and second in1914, the Giants fell to last place in theNational League in 1915. Much of the collapse was due to the pitching staff. Hall of FamersChristy Mathewson andRube Marquard both struggled through subpar seasons. Marquard would be placed on waivers in August and claimed by theBrooklyn Robins.
