On October 5, in one of the most lopsided contests in Notre Dame history, junior quarterbackGus Dorais led the Irish to a116–7 rout ofSt. Viator in the season-opener.[1] Second year coachJohn L. Marks guided Notre Dame to another undefeated season in 1912, following up a6–0–2 record in 1911 with a7–0 mark.
