Schmitz was the first Democrat sinceGeorge W. Peck in1892 to carryKenosha County. This was also the first time since1875 that Kenosha County did not vote for the winning candidate.Social Democratic candidate William A. Jacobs received 37.93% of the vote inMilwaukee County and won the county over McGovern; this was the best performance ever by a Socialist gubernatorial candidate in Milwaukee County.
