Delaware was won by theRepublican nominees, formerSecretary of WarWilliam Howard Taft ofOhio and his running mateJames S. Sherman ofNew York. They defeated theDemocratic nominees, formerU.S. RepresentativeWilliam Jennings Bryan ofNebraska and his running mateJohn W. Kern. Taft won the state by a margin of 6.13%.
Bryan had previously lost Delaware toWilliam McKinley in both1896 and1900.
