The1906 Boston Americans season was the sixth season for theprofessional baseball franchise that later became known as theBoston Red Sox. The Americans finished last in the eight-teamAmerican League (AL) with a record of 49 wins and 105 losses,45+1⁄2games behind theChicago White Sox. The team played its home games atHuntington Avenue Grounds.
Prior to the regular season, the team heldspring training inMacon, Georgia.[3]
The offense was led byChick Stahl with 51RBIs and fourhome runs, andMyron "Moose" Grimshaw with a .290batting average. The pitching staff was led byCy Young, who made 39 appearances (34 starts) and pitched 28 complete games with a 13–21 record and 3.19ERA, while striking out 140 in287+2⁄3 innings.Jesse Tannehill was the only member of the starting rotation with winning record, at 13–11, whileBill Dinneen had the rotation's lowest ERA, at 2.92.
