The1888 U.S. National Championships (now known as theUS Open) was a tennis tournament that took place in June and August of 1888.
The women's tournament was held from June 12 to June 15 on the outdoor grass courts at thePhiladelphia Cricket Club inPhiladelphia,Pennsylvania. The men's tournament was held from August 22 to August 30 on the outdoorgrass courts at theNewport Casino inNewport, Rhode Island. The men's doubles event was played at theStaten Island Cricket Club inLivingston, Staten Island,New York.[2] It was the 8th U.S. National Championships and the secondGrand Slam tournament of the year.:[1]
