The1883 Massachusetts gubernatorial election was held on November 6.

GovernorBenjamin Butler ran for re-election on afusion ticket between theDemocratic Party and theGreenback Labor Party but was defeated by Republican U.S. RepresentativeGeorge D. Robinson.[1][2][3]

In the concurrent but separate election for Lieutenant Governor, RepublicanOliver Ames was re-elected to a second term.
