The1880 Illinois lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on 2 November 1880 in order to elect thelieutenant governor of Illinois.Republican nomineeJohn Marshall Hamilton defeatedDemocratic nominee andincumbent member of theIllinois Senate Lewis Baldwin Parsons andGreenback nominee Andrew Blainey Adair.
On election day, 2 November 1880,Republican nomineeJohn Marshall Hamilton won the election by a margin of 41,194 votes against his foremost opponentDemocratic nominee Lewis Baldwin Parsons, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of lieutenant governor. Hamilton was sworn in as the 21thlieutenant governor of Illinois on 3 January 1881.[1]
