TheDemocratic Party nominatedDaniel Marcy for a second time following his election loss during the1876 New Hampshire gubernatorial election. On election day, March 13, 1877,Republican nomineeBenjamin F. Prescott won the election by a margin of 4,031 votes against his foremost opponentDemocratic nomineeDaniel Marcy, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of Governor. Prescott was sworn in as the 36th Governor ofNew Hampshire on June 6, 1877.[1]
