IncumbentGovernor of NebraskaRobert Wilkinson Furnas did not seek reelection to a second term. The election featured Republican nomineeSilas Garber, a member of theNebraska House of Representatives, defeatingDemocratic nomineeAlbert Tuxbury, mayor ofNebraska City, as well as Independent nominee Jonathan F. Gardner andProhibition Party nominee Jarvis S. Church.[3]
