The1871 Wisconsin lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on 7 November 1871 in order to elect thelieutenant governor of Wisconsin.Republican nominee andincumbent member of theWisconsin SenateMilton Pettit defeatedDemocratic nominee and fellow incumbent member of theWisconsin SenateJohn A. Rice.[1]
On election day, 7 November 1871,Republican nomineeMilton Pettit won the election by a margin of 8,944 votes against his opponentDemocratic nomineeJohn A. Rice, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of lieutenant governor. Pettit was sworn in as the 11th lieutenant governor of Wisconsin on 1 January 1872.[2]
