Presidential elections were held inHonduras in 1856.[1] The result was a victory forJosé Santos Guardiola.
No candidate received a majority in the popular vote, resulting in theGeneral Chamber electing conservativeJosé Santos Guardiola as president andJosé María Lazo Guillén as vice president on 14 February.[1] The two took office on 17 February.[1]
