The1845 Maine gubernatorial election was held on September 8, 1845, in order to elect thegovernor of Maine.IncumbentDemocratic governorHugh J. Anderson won re-election againstWhig nominee and formerU.S. Representative fromMaine's 4th congressional districtFreeman H. Morse andLiberty Party candidate and former member of theMassachusetts State SenateSamuel Fessenden.[1]

General election

On election day, September 8, 1845, incumbentDemocratic governorHugh J. Anderson won re-election by a margin of 8,370 votes against his foremost opponentWhig nomineeFreeman H. Morse, thereby retaining Democratic control over the office of governor. Anderson was sworn in for his third term on January 5, 1846.[2]
