Rhode Island cast four electoral votes for theDemocratic-Republican candidate and incumbentPresidentJames Monroe, as he ran effectively unopposed. The electoral votes forvice president were cast for Monroe'srunning mate,Daniel D. Tompkins fromNew York. Each state elector was chosen by the voters statewide.[2]
