The1814 North Carolina gubernatorial election was held on 29 November 1814 in order to elect theGovernor of North Carolina.Democratic-Republican candidate and formerAttorney General of North CarolinaWilliam Miller was elected by theNorth Carolina General Assembly againstFederalist candidate and former member ofNorth Carolina Council of StateWilliam Polk andDemocratic-Republican candidate and former member of theNorth Carolina SenateGeorge Outlaw.[1]
On election day, 29 November 1814,Democratic-Republican candidateWilliam Miller was elected by theNorth Carolina General Assembly by a margin of 12 votes against his foremost opponentFederalist candidateWilliam Polk, thereby retaining Democratic-Republican control over the office of Governor. Miller was sworn in as the 18thGovernor of North Carolina on 7 December 1814.[2]
