On election day, 4 April 1814, incumbentFederalist GovernorCaleb Strong won re-election by a margin of 10,421 votes against his opponentDemocratic-Republican candidateSamuel Dexter, thereby retaining Federalist control over the office of Governor. Strong was sworn in for his tenth overall term on 30 May 1814.[2]
