The1812 Kentucky gubernatorial election was held on August 3, 1812, in order to elect thegovernor of Kentucky. FormerDemocratic-Republican governorIsaac Shelby defeated fellowDemocratic-Republican candidate andincumbentLieutenant GovernorGabriel Slaughter.[1]

On election day, August 3, 1812, formerDemocratic-Republican governorIsaac Shelby won the election by a margin of 17,888 votes against his opponent fellowDemocratic-Republican candidate and incumbent lieutenant governorGabriel Slaughter, thereby retaining Democratic-Republican control over the office of governor. Shelby was sworn in as the 5thgovernor of Kentucky on August 25, 1812.[2]
