Agubernatorial election was held inVirginia on December 7, 1809. The incumbentgovernorJohn Tyler Sr. was re-elected without opposition.[1]

The election was conducted by theVirginia General Assembly in joint session.[3] Tyler was elected with a majority on the first ballot.[1]
