The1808 United States presidential election in New Hampshire took place between November 4 and December 7, 1808, as part of the1808 United States presidential election. Voters chose five representatives, or electors, to theElectoral College, who voted forpresident andvice president.
New Hampshire voted forFederalist candidate andMinister to FranceCharles Cotesworth Pinckney over theDemocratic-Republican candidate andSecretary of StateJames Madison by a margin of 4.8%, although Pinckney won the state's presidential election. However, Pinckney lost to Madison in the national presidential election, making this the second time New Hampshire voted for a losing candidate inits presidential voting history.
