On election day, 11 October 1808,Democratic-Republican candidateSamuel Huntington won the election by a margin of 1,692 votes against his foremost opponent fellowDemocratic-Republican candidateThomas Worthington, thereby retaining Democratic-Republican control over the office of Governor. Huntington was sworn in as the 3rdGovernor of Ohio on 12 December 1808.[2]
