TheSouth Carolina General Assembly chose 10 representatives, or electors to theElectoral College, who voted forPresident andVice President.
Despite the fact that Federalist candidateCharles Cotesworth Pinckney came from South Carolina, theSouth Carolina state legislature cast 10 electoral votes forDemocratic-Republican incumbentThomas Jefferson.[1]
