The1792 United States presidential election in Georgia took place between November 2 and December 5, 1792, as part of the1792 United States presidential election. The state legislature chose four representatives, or electors to theElectoral College, who voted forPresident andVice President. Georgia had lost one elector compared to the previouselection in 1788–89.[1]
Georgia cast four electoral votes for theIndependent candidate and incumbentPresidentGeorge Washington, as he ran effectively unopposed. The electoral votes forVice president were cast forDemocratic-RepublicanGeorge Clinton fromNew York. These electors were elected by theGeorgia General Assembly, the state legislature, rather than by popular vote.[2]
