The1785 Maryland gubernatorial election was held on 17 November 1785 in order to elect theGovernor of Maryland. CandidateWilliam Smallwood was elected by theMaryland General Assembly against his opponent, formerPresident of the Maryland SenateDaniel of St. Thomas Jenifer. The exact results of this election are unknown.[1]

On election day, 17 November 1785,William Smallwood was elected by theMaryland General Assembly. Smallwood was sworn in as the 4thGovernor of Maryland on 26 November 1785.[2]
