The1777 Delaware gubernatorial election was held on 12 February 1777 in order to elect the FirstPresident of Delaware. (The office would be renamed to Governor in 1792.) CandidateJohn McKinly was elected by theDelaware General Assembly against other candidates.[1]
On election day, 12 February 1777,John McKinly was elected by theDelaware General Assembly. McKinly was sworn in as the 1stPresident of Delaware on 12 February 1777.[2]
