145th Street is a major crosstown street in theHarlem neighborhood, in theNew York Cityborough ofManhattan. It is one of the 15 crosstown streets mapped out in theCommissioner's Plan of 1811 that established the numbered street grid in Manhattan.[1] It forms the southern border of theSugar Hill neighborhood within Harlem.
145th Street starts on the West Side at theHenry Hudson Parkway, crossingRiverside Drive,Broadway,Amsterdam Avenue,Convent Avenue andSaint Nicholas Avenue. The street passesEdgecombe Avenue andBradhurst Avenue, where 145 Street forms the southern border ofJackie Robinson Park. The street continues, crossingFrederick Douglass Boulevard,Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard andLenox Avenue, before crossing overHarlem River Drive and then continuing east as the145th Street Bridge intoThe Bronx.
TheBx19 traverses 145th Street from end-to-end, starting with a loop inRiverbank State Park and heading back to the Bronx over the 145th Street Bridge to theNew York Botanical Garden.[2] TheM11 also serves West 145th Street west of Riverside Drive, including the park.
