Themeridian 140° west ofGreenwich is a line oflongitude[1] that extends from theNorth Pole across theArctic Ocean,North America, thePacific Ocean, theSouthern Ocean, andAntarctica to theSouth Pole.
The line is the divider in the area of warning responsibility between theNational Hurricane Center and theCentral Pacific Hurricane Center in the north Pacific Ocean.[2]
The 140th meridian west forms agreat circle with the40th meridian east.
