100-yard dash

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from100 yard dash)
Track and field sprint event of 100 yards

For the Raphael Saadiq song, see100 Yard Dash. For the 2023 Chinese film, see100 Yards.

The100-yard dash is atrack and fieldsprint event of 100 yards (91.44 metres). It was part of theCommonwealth Games until1970, and was included in thetriathlon of theOlympics in1904. It is not generally used in international events, replaced by the100-metre sprint (109.36 yards). However, it is still occasionally run in theUnited States in certain competitions; in theNCAA championships it was last run in 1975.[1][2]Walter Halben Butler (1852–1931) is credited with being the first to run the race in 10 seconds.[3]
