Kieuk (letter:ㅋ; name:키읔) is aconsonant of the KoreanHangul alphabet. It is pronouncedaspirated, as[kʰ] at the beginning of a syllable and as[k] at the end of a syllable. For example: 코ko ("nose") is pronounced [kho], while 부엌bueok ("kitchen") is pronounced [puʌk].[1][2][3]
In South Koreaninternet slang, the use ofㅋ (short for크;keu) indicates laughter. Similarly,ㅎ (short for흐;heu) is a lighter laugh thanㅋ. Eitherㅋ orㅎ can be repeated a number of times to this effect.[4]
