Norse mythology character

InNorse mythology,Þrívaldi (anglicized asThrívaldi orThrivaldi), whose name means "thrice mighty", is ajötunn killed byThor.

This fact is mentioned bySnorri Sturluson in theSkáldskaparmál(4), according to which "killer of Þrívaldi" ("vegandi Þrívalda") is akenning for Thor. Snorri quotes one stanza byBragi Boddason, who calls Thor "cleaver apart of Þrívaldi'snine heads"[1] ("sundrkljúfr níu höfða Þrívalda"), and another stanza byVetrliði Sumarliðason who praises Thor for having battered ("lemja") Þrívaldi.

Þrívaldi is also listed in theþulur.
