Óscar Guido Trejo (born 26 April 1988) is an Argentine professionalfootballer who plays as anattacking midfielder orforward forLa Liga clubRayo Vallecano.
Trejo was born inSantiago del Estero. A product ofBoca Juniors' youth system,[2] he only played once for its first team but, in the game againstClub Almagro, he scored in a 3–2 away loss after a mere minutes on the pitch – the match was suspended after 63 minutes.[3]
In late December 2006, Trejo was bought byRCD Mallorca in Spain, still having not signed his first professional contract; Boca sustained otherwise and the case was taken toFIFA, which ultimately decided for theBalearic Islands club.[4] He made his first appearance inLa Liga on 8 April 2007, againstGetafe CF: having come on as a 90th-minutesubstitute, he managed to find the net for a final 2–0 home victory.[5]
Sparingly used over the following seasons,[6] Trejo managed to score in the2007–08 edition of theCopa del Rey in a 2–1 home win overReal Madrid (3–1 aggregate).[7] After an unassuming2008–09, he was loaned thefollowing campaign toSegunda División sideElche CF.[8]
On 15 August 2010, a similar move ensued, with Trejo joiningRayo Vallecano in the same tier.[9][10] He returned to the top flight in the2011–12 season,[11] scoring four goals from 33 appearances forSporting de Gijón but suffering relegation.[12]
In the summer of 2012,Premier League'sWest Ham United made an attempt to buy Trejo, but the deal fell apart.[13] He left Spain one year later, going on to spend several seasons in the FrenchLigue 1 withToulouse FC after agreeing to a four-year contract.[14]
Trejo returned to Rayo on 21 June 2017 asdirector of footballDavid Cobeño's first signing, six years after leaving.[15] He scored a career-high 12 goals in hisfirst year, combining withRaúl de Tomás for 36 as the team returned to the top division as champions.[16]
Trejo continued to feature regularly for Rayo Vallecano in the following years, and became the sixth-highest appearance maker for the club in December 2024, at 303.[17] On 8 July 2025, after helping them toqualify for theUEFA Conference League, their first European competition in more than 20 years, the 37-year-old renewed his contract for another season.[18]
