Éric Toledano andOlivier Nakache are French filmmakers, best known for directing the filmsThose Happy Days (2006) andThe Intouchables (2011).
Éric Toledano was born on 3 July 1971 inParis. Olivier Nakache was born on 15 April 1973 inSuresnes, Hauts-de-Seine.[1]
Toledano and Nakache are both Jewish.[2] Toledano's parents were immigrants fromMorocco, while Nakache's parents were from Algeria.[3]
Toledano and Nakache collaborated several times before directingThe Intouchables (2011), which became one of the greatest box office successes in French film history[4] and for which they were nominated for several awards, including threeCesar Awards. They have collaborated several times with actorOmar Sy, most recently in the 2014 filmSamba.
Their 2019 filmThe Specials starsVincent Cassel andReda Kateb.[5] The film shows Parisians from many different groups in society making connections with each other through their work withautistic children and young people.[6]
Toledano and Nakache directedEn thérapie, the French version of the Israeli seriesBeTipul, created byHagai Levi, about a psychologist and his patients. It debuted onArte TV in January 2021, starringFrédéric Pierrot,Mélanie Thierry,Reda Kateb,Clémence Poésy,Pio Marmaï, andCarole Bouquet. The series is set in the aftermath of theBataclan attack in 2015.[6] A second season was aired from April 2022,[7] with each series comprising 35 episodes.[8][9] The show aired onSBS Television in Australia asIn Therapy.[10]
Their next film,A Difficult Year, premiered at the2023 Toronto Film Festival.[11]
