ʻAiea High School is a publichigh school of theHawaiʻi State Department of Education and serves grades nine through twelve. Established in 1961, ʻAiea High School is located in theʻAiea CDP,[2] in theCity and County of Honolulu of the state ofHawaiʻi. It is situated on a former sugar cane plantation overlookingPearl Harbor at 98-1276 Ulune St. The campus boasts the sculptureEarly Spring bySatoru Abe.[3]

ʻAiea High School's student body is made up of largely of persons ofAsian orPacific Islander descent.[4]

Academics

Per the Board of Education, the school requires a total of 24 credits to graduate. Per the Board of Education, the school requires six credits in electives, four credits inEnglish, four credits insocial studies, three credits inmathmatics, three credits inscience, two credits in eitherworld language,fine arts, orCareer Technical Education, one credit inphysical education, half a credit inhealth, and half a credit for the Personal Transition Plan (PTP), for a total of 24 credits.[5]

For dual-credit, the school offers AP (Advanced Placement) classes andEarly College. The AP classes offered areAP Computer Science Principles,AP Seminar, andAP Research. The school offers Early College through theLeeward Community College, which is apart of theUniversity of Hawaii system.[6]

The school uses career academies to provide individualized instruction to students. These are the Academy of Aspiring Professionals and the Academy of Innovation. Each academy hascareer pathways and lasts for four years. Students in academies get core courses based around their academy.
