‘Leftover’ women and their eagerness for love

Baidu, one of the renowned searching engines in China, defines leftover women as a group of women who in general have reached marrying age under the social cognition, but still stay single. In Japan, they are called women of 3S - single, seventies (most of them born in seventies),and stuck.

Single, highly-educated and well-paid as they may be, they are the ones who are left behind. In this time of desperation, in what way are Chinese women struggling for love?

Blind date events, titled “dating the rich”, raise loads of public concern recently. From Beijing to Shenzhen, “dating the rich” events were held one after another, which was considered a great opportunity for “grassroot” beauties to find wealthy husbands.
